Shooting

Raw Footage-

Entrance

Today we went around the college again to start shooting; we thought it would be better to shoot in order of what the video will be in, so we started shooting at the entrance. We thought filming the entrance to the college would be a great place to open the promo video, and this was the first video we decided to shoot because we realized that during a college day it would be busy, so we decided to film it first to get it over with and that we may not get another chance for the entrance to be as quiet as it was when we filmed the first few takes. However, we realized that the camera wasn't picking up the audio well. So we decided to film again with a mic to increase the quality of the audio, which did the trick. However, it was lunchtime when we went to film, so it was hectic, so we had to change how we would film the entrance. We decided to film one-half of the stairs that lead to the reception, as we knew it wouldn't get anyone's faces in because we didn't have the other half of the entrance in view.

Garden

Our original idea was to film the square yard, but after trying for a couple of days, we realized that it was too busy to film, so we decided the best place to film would be the garden in the middle of the Bede building. To make it look like Henry was just a regular student walking in the garden, I suggested that he stand behind the bushes and then start walking when one of us counted him in; this helped the video look more accurate as the video didn't have Henry standing there and then walk, it has already walking which increased the quality of the video. Before we moved on, we looked at the footage we had taken, and we all decided that having Henry start walking from behind the bushes was better and looked much better. We decided to take two shootings as in the first one, Henry looked behind him, so we thought it would be better to take another take where he didn't look back behind him, just forward, which was much better, therefore we decided to class the first take as the prototype.

Directions

We wanted to record the disability learning, also known as Directions, as it shows that the college included everyone in its enrolment and environment. We encountered a problem as we didn't know whether some of the people in the directions couldn't or could be filmed, so we decided to film the fantastic artwork painted on the wall. We decided to take two videos of the artwork so that we had a backup if one of them wasn't as good as the other. In the first take we took, the camera was really jerky because there was a ramp at the wall and at the top was a small lip on the floor. However, in the second take, the camera was still jerky, but the people in our group doing the video campaign could cut the first few seconds out where the camera got stuck on the lip on the floor.

The Den

To show all the best aspects of the college, we decided to film the den as it is the most popular common room because it has an 8-ball pool, Fussball, ping pong and more. As it was a bit busy in the den when we went to get the prototype images, we thought it would be better to take photos of the different artwork on the walls. When we went to film, there were people in the den; however, we decided to film Katie and Henry chatting with each other, and we all thought we could put an interview over the top of this video.

Starbucks

We thought it would be good to film Starbucks as it is another common area where most students hang out during breaks or lunches. However, we went to film it was the beginning of lunch, we thought about coming back at another time. Still, each student has a different lunchtime, so it could be busy all day. Hence, we decided to film behind the stairs while also showing some of the artwork students made during their college years while having the Starbucks counter in the background.

Creative Media

To end the campaign video before the college logo appears, we thought it would be good to film the corridor leading to the course our group is studying. The first week we started to film; we took a few takes of the corridor, then we reviewed the videos and realized that the videos were too dark, so we had to think of another way to film the corridor so we could see Henry's face.
