The Beginning of the Project

Image
September 6, 2021 Our Idea Our Sunderland College Promotional video will feature a mixture of still and moving images to highlight the best parts of our college. Instead of using music in our video, we will interview students and teachers. To engage our audience (15-19), we will have a fast-paste video and incorporate jokes to make them laugh.  This is the initial idea for our promotional video. The questions for the student interviews- -What inspired you to come to Sunderland college? -What course did you decide to study and why? -How are you enjoying college so far? -If there was anything you could change about the college, what would it be and why? -Would you recommend this college to anyone? The questions for the teacher interview- What made you decide to work at Sunderland college than another college, and why? Storyboard- Audience Feedback For our audience feedback, we decided to create a slideshow presenting our idea. College Promotional Campaign Presentation Above is the s...

September 6, 2022 Research into the client- Our client for this project is Sunderland College, part of the EPNE group and one of the largest FE providers in the North East. They are looking for a new promotional video. Here are some of the current campaigns they have and some other college campaigns. Cambridge college Promo video Derby College Promo Video These images show that the current campaigns are posted on Facebook and other social media apps. They usually either show a short video or a photo with a description that is linked to the post that is showing. The description includes questions about courses that you can apply for, it will also include a link to their website where you can see what courses you can apply for, and you can apply straight on their website. As you can see, the different campaigns show the different aspects of the college.   Audience Profile Students aged 15-19 of all genders in social grades E and D are the target audience for our product as...

Shooting the product

Shooting Raw Footage- Entrance Today we went around the college again to start shooting; we thought it would be better to shoot in order of what the video will be in, so we started shooting at the entrance.  We thought filming the entrance to the college would be a great place to open the promo video, and this was the first video we decided to shoot because we realized that during a college day it would be busy, so we decided to film it first to get it over with and that we may not get another chance for the entrance to be as quiet as it was when we filmed the first few takes. However, we realized that the camera wasn't picking up the audio well. So we decided to film again with a mic to increase the quality of the audio, which did the trick. However, it was lunchtime when we went to film, so it was hectic, so we had to change how we would film the entrance. We decided to film one-half of the stairs that lead to the reception, as we knew it wouldn't get anyone's faces in be...

Editing the product

Image
Screenshot of my editing In this image, I have just started making my promotional campaign video. The first thing I did was get all the videos I would use in my campaign, e.g. the entrance video, the den video etc.  Then, I started by adding the entrance video to my sequence and cutting out any unwanted footage; for example, there were a few seconds at the beginning of the video where Henry was counted in and at the end to allow some breathing space for the editing of the video. To cut the unwanted footage out, I needed to go through the footage to the point where I wanted the film to start, Henry walking down the stairs, next I used the razor tool to cut the unwanted footage out; I am getting rid of this footage because this part of the footage is usually just one of us counting Henry in or is breathing space to do the editing. Still, I needed to ensure that it was in line with the sequence replay line to get an accurate cut so that I didn't cut anything I wanted.  Once...
